Download Files (Login Required) The Yukon Council on the Economy and the Environment (YCEE) was created in November 1989 and was the first legislated round table on the economy and the environment to be established in Canada. The Council was created with a mandate to advise the Yukon government and encourage non-governmental organizations, individuals and businesses to adopt practices and approaches that will further the goal of sustainable development in the Yukon. The YCEE is an independent advisory group which reports to the Government Leader of the Yukon and to the Ministers of Energy, Mines & Resources, Environment, and Economic Development. Members of the Council are appointed from business, industry, labour, First Nations, environment, and community organizations. By bringing together people with diverse interests, the Council is able to develop a consensus on issues of importance to all sectors of Yukon society, working to ensure that the environment is protected and economic development is beneficial.
